As an interior designer, Dark Tools is my go to architectural lighting supplier. Glenn and his team know their stuff. Key to great experience, is to go to him BEFORE you start building. He will cater specifications to projects with small budgets high budgets equally. I rely heavily on Dark Tools to recommend the appropriate fixtures for each job. I know what I like aesthetically, and Dark Tools ensure they fixtures I want are not only beautiful and functional. They are always available to my electricians for any technical info and always provide options for problems - even when it's not their responsibility to do so. I don't know many other vendors who provide that kind of knowledge and service anymore.

Dark Tools is by far and away the best lighting store in Canada. They have more high end lighting fixtures than any other store by far, and the expertise to help navigate around any budget. Glenn is exceptional and well worth hiring as a lighting consultant - I found him much more valuable than my designer. Don't expect Costco pricing (many of the fixtures are higher end European manufacturers), and make an appointment. Make sure you have an electrician that is experienced with whatever you choose, as many of these lights are not the old school line voltage lights that you find at some of the other stores.

My last project won 4 different design awards for lighting, and it was Glenn's RCP design.

Our architect recommended pot lights from Dark Tools. We bought $20,000 worth of lights. Our new general contractor noticed that they were not what we needed and we asked to return them, and the owner refused. We are left w 20k of perfectly new pot lights that we cannot use. We would have tried to exchange them for what we needed. Management was inflexible and would not work with us. Terrible customer service. I will go out of my way to tell everyone I know of my experience. It did not have to go this way.

Great lighting fixtures but lacking in customer service department in my experience - inconsistent follow up and design advice. Had to press hard to get accountability for inadequate design advice. Among other oversights and a feeling of general disorganization, we have been waiting forever for the replacement of a fixture that was not what we ordered. They promise to follow up, but no ff-up received, I have to keep chasing. Will look elsewhere for next purchases.

Referred by my architects, they took the time to review my design plans, suggest options for each room and worked with my budget. And when a few fixtures had to me modified/replaced, they took care of things right away without any hassle.
